The Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro, has confirmed that the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Teacher Training Institutions (TTIs), Fiji Teacher’s Registration Authority (FTRA), Higher Education Commission Fiji (HECF) and the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) will re-introduce conducting of interviews for eligible Year 13 students who wish to enrol in teacher training institutions across the four divisions.
This is an exciting opportunity for those who have completed Year 13 and aspire to join the teaching profession to shape the future of education in our nation.
“With an increasing demand for qualified teachers, it is essential to ensure that our teacher training programmes are not only rigorous but also tailored to attract the right candidates,” said Minister Radrodro.
This initiative is an outcome of the 2024-2033 Denarau Declaration, which strengthens partnership between TTIs, respective stakeholders, and the Ministry of Education by ensuring their graduates possess the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to excel in the classroom.

We are ensuring that the future of education remains bright and impactful. This is a chance for them to contribute to our Fijian education landscape, inspiring the next generation of learners."
Minister Radrodro stated that the reintroduction of the interview process ensures that we recruit passionate individuals, and by prioritising this process, we can cultivate a new generation of educators who are not only qualified but are also dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the students in Fiji in any context.”
The Education Minister encourages all eligible Year 13 students to seize this opportunity to embark on a rewarding career in the teaching profession. He also highlights the current priority (shortage) teaching areas for Ministry of Education include:

Minister Radrodro added that the closing date for online applications to TSLS is 31st of January, 2025. He also emphasised that the Programmes for Scholarships for Merit Based Higher Education – Level 7 Local Scheme are as follows:

- Bachelor of Education Primary
- Bachelor of Education - ECE
