Inaugural Rakiraki on sale

19/10/2011

The 'toddler' town of Rakiraki is hosting its inaugural Rakiraki on Sale this week.

The event started this morning and will end on Saturday, October 22.

Rakiraki on Sale started with a march by the Fiji National University Students band at 10am, followed by the official opening of the sale by the Provincial Administrator Ra, Mr Sitiveni Tavaga at the Post Office grounds in the town centre.

This initiative has been organized by the Town Council in an effort to boost economic activity in the new municipality and also to give the people of Ra an opportunity to experience a "Town on Sale" event.

The dates were selected to coincide with the cane cutters' pay and the cane farmers' pay on Friday.

The program will also boast a mini youth concert every evening (5:30pm - 7pm) from Wednesday to Friday, and a song and dance fiesta (10am - 2pm) on the final day of the event.
