Indian Government donates books to schools

The Indian High Commission donated books to the Ministry of Education this week for distribution to 200 schools.


The books were formally presented to the Ministry of Education by Indian Cultural Centre director Dr Kamal Kishor Mishra.

The Ministry of Education deputy permanent secretary- professional, Ms Rokobua Naiyaga received the books.

“The Government of India, through the Indian High Commission has been supporting education development in Fiji in various ways,” said Ms Naiyaga.

“You are supporting the move of the Ministry of Education, which is aligned to Pillar 9 of the People’s Charter that is ‘Making Fiji a Knowledge Based Society.”

Dr Kamal K Mishra said through books knowledge was gained and this gave insight to build character.

“It has been our regular effort to promote people-to-people contacts through tourism, academic interaction and exchanges, students, cultural exchanges and promoting the bond of friendship through culture and education,” Dr Mishra said.

The donation include latest reference books with attached compact disc versions.
