The Minister for Primary Industries Mr Joketani Cokanasiga today (Wed 04/11) received $20,000.00 assistance package from the Israeli Government to aid in Fiji’s campaign to eradicate Brucellosis.
In receiving the package, Mr Cokanasiga said the timely assistance “signifies the great commitment by the people of Israel” and it has also strengthened the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

“We are giving our commitment and assurance that the assistance package will be utilised fairly and responsibly for the betterment of the dairy industry and indirectly in a longer term, this will also filter down significantly to our rural population”, Mr Cokanasiga explained.
The package, which was in the form of laboratory consumables, was presented by Fiji’s Director for Animal Health and Production Division Mr Shiu Chand.

Mr Chand the Israeli Government had responded quickly when approached by Fiji for assistance to eradicate Brucellosis after it re-emerged in June this year.
