A three weeks First Aid training program funded and organized by Matsusaka Area Firefighting Association, JICA and National Fire Authority (NFA) for fire fighters around the country will start from the 22nd of November 2010 in Suva for a week and move to Labasa and Nadi.
The closing ceremony for the trainings will be held in Suva on the 26th of November, in Labasa on the 3rd of December and in Nadi on the 10th of December 2010 at the area fire stations.
Matsusaka Area Firefighting Association from Japan, who are not new to Fiji and NFA’s Training Program with JICA, was also in-charge of the 2008 Flood and Swift water Rescue Operations Training using flood rescue equipment donated by Matsusaka Area Firefighting Association and JICA in 2008, will be facilitating this year’s First Aid Training as well.
Since the emergency service was transferred from a private company and housed under NFA, Matsusaka Area Fighting Association proposed that JICA to provide technical training especially for First Aid services and methods of transporting from the site of accident.
The purpose of the training is to ensure that fire fighters master the methods of transporting patients as the first step of implementing an emergency service.
Expected outputs of the training include:
1. The staff of NFA headquarters and each fire station at which this training is implemented should master the first aid including the method of transporting patients.
2. The participants should master the training procedures of the first aid including method of transporting patients.
3. The participants should prepare the manuals of the firs aid including methods of transporting patients.
Two experts from Matsusaka Area Fire Fighting Association will assist local firefighters.
