With the opening of the Kamikamica Park Multipurpose Court in Raffle Range, Lautoka, there are high hopes that this new facility will become a breeding ground for Fiji’s future sports champions.

Having a total investment of $171,439.39, the court aims to serve the people of Lautoka and beyond and cultivate the next generation of athletes who will rise to represent Fiji with pride on the international stage.

Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Jese Saukuru said the Kamikamica Park Multipurpose Court represented an investment in youth, a testament to the commitment to community development, and a vital step towards achieving greater sporting excellence.

“Sports are not just about competition; they are about discipline, teamwork, and fostering a spirit of excellence among our young people,” Minister Saukuru said.
Designed to cater to a range of indoor and outdoor sports such as volleyball, netball, and basketball, the facility also serves as a safe space for community engagement, leadership development, and healthy living.

“We hope that this facility will not only boost participation in sports but also produce future national representatives who will carry the Fijian flag with pride on the international stage. Beyond sports, this facility serves as a safe space for community engagement, leadership development, and healthy living."

“Our youth face many challenges today, from unemployment to social pressures, and we believe that sports can be a positive force for change, keeping young people engaged in meaningful activities and away from negative influences.”

The facility will be under the supervision of the Lautoka City Council and the Fiji Sports Council to ensure long-term sustainability.
