LAUNCHING OF DEFENCE WEBSITE IN LINE WITH PILLAR 4

28/08/2012

The launch of the Ministry of Defence’s website today is in line with Pillar 4 of the Peoples Charter which is “Enhancing Public Sector efficiency, performance, effectiveness and service delivery” says the Ministry of Defence permanent secretary Mr Jale Fotofili.

Launching the website, Mr Fotofili said that the occasion marked a quantum leap by the Ministry towards the fulfillment of its vision, “Safety, Security and Stability as the catalyst for Peace and Socio-Economic Development”.

“This new website is indeed an innovative transformation as we interact in this new technological era,” Mr Fotofili said.

“In a technologically driven society, having a website is a crucial communication component of any organisation. This component becomes even more important in an island state like Fiji due to its geographical location in the global village.”

The permanent secretary also added that the website is also linked to the Department of Immigration, Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) and Fiji Police Force (FPF) who also play a pivotal role in operationalising the core functions of the Ministry of Defence.

“Being able to go live on the network is a win-win situation whereby we are not only marketing and sharing our products, we are also giving our visitors to our site the opportunity to voice their opinion online through our question and answer section which will enable the Ministry to better its service delivery to the public at large,” Mr Fotofili said.

Mr Fotofili also stated that some of the Ministry’s security apparatus will however not be fully accessible due to the sensitivity of information contained.
