Black History Month recognises the many ways African-Americans have enriched American communities, culture and history. The achievements of African-Americans touch every community, in every field of study, including science and technology.
Facilitated by Mr Douglas Morriss, the Regional Public Affairs Officer at the United States Embassy, the commemoration was attended by Director Library Services of Fiji which comes under the Ministry of Information.
Head Prefects and teachers from secondary schools in Nadi and Lautoka also attended the commemoration whereby and took part in an informal discussion with the facilitator on what they had learned from the movie about Black American History.
This is the second year that the event has been organised at the American Corner of the Western Regional Library in Lautoka.
