At the closing of the South Pacific Food and Wine festival, the Attorney-General and Minister for Tourism Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the festival encourages the tourism industry chefs to use local ingredients in their menu.
Minister Saiyad-Khaiyum said the festival also promotes Fiji’s own local produce to reach hotels and resorts around the country.
"Robert Oliver's book instills the idea of using local food. This festival supports the people of the Pacific who tend farms, harvest the crops, prepare in the kitchens and whose warmth and passion for hospitality is at the heart of the Fijian tourism industry”, Mr Sayed Khaiyum told participants and guests.
"The Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Fiji firmly support this innovative project that bought culinary travelers from around the world."
Meanwhile the Attorney General said that Tourism Fiji is currently re-branding and thanked the Prime Minister for his support to the Tourism industry for his input on policies and taking tourism to a new level.
