To promote road safety on our roads and avoid road fatalities 10,000 reflective bumper stickers were launched by Land Transport Authority in partnership with Flour Mills of Fiji today
The bumper stickers were sponsored by Flour Mills of Fiji (FMF) for $10,000 as part of the company’s corporate responsibility.
“This is our responsibility towards the life of others. Road safety is for everybody,”said chief executive Mr Ram Bajekal.
“We believe there is a necessity for corporate organisations to come on board and support initiatives Government is taking. Fiji is a small country and corporate organisations have resources comparatively, therefore it is only right that we lend our support as corporate citizens,” Mr Bajekal said.
He thanked the LTA, the Police and the Fire Authority for promoting road safety in Fiji.
The Flour Mills of Fiji has been helping grow Fiji’s economy for decades and employs 991 people.
The authority’s CEO Naisa Tuinaceva said Government spent millions of dollars every year on road fatalities.
“With this project we believe are going to save a few lives,” Mr Tuinaceva said.
“Government estimated the cost of road fatalities to be about $400million annually.
“This money could be best used in building hospitals, schools and infrastructure like roads,” he added.
LTA media liaison officer Ms Doreen Narayan said: “The whole idea here is to promote road safety and reduce road accidents. We are very grateful to Flour Mills of Fiji for sponsoring these reflective bumper stickers .”
