Residents leaving in low lying areas are advised to start making preparation for all appropriate precautionary measures that need to be taken as flooding could be experienced in low lying areas.

The office said that for those residents living in the low lying areas of Navua that are prone to flooding, they will need to  take the necessary precautionary measures and move to high ground or the nearest evacuation centre before the high tide forecasted at 12 midnight.

Evacuation Centres identified for the Navua area include:-

1.       Vashist Muni Primary School

2.      Rampur Primary School

3.      Church at Calia

4.      Chevalier Boys Centre at Wainadoi

The general public is requested to monitor the current situation and keep listening to the radio or using other media outlets for further developments on the weather.
