Government in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will officially launch the 3Rs Pilot Sites-Waste Minimization and Recycling Promotion Project on the 4th and 5th of September, in Lautoka City and Nadi Town.
Government Ministries include Local Government, Urban Development, Housing and Environment; Health; and Education.
The waste minimization and recycling promotion project in Lautoka city and Nadi Town started in October 2008.The project aims to promote 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) concept in Lautoka and Nadi and then later be adopted as a 3R model for Fiji.
The launching of the project is crucial as this will boost the community’s involvement and raise awareness on importance of proper waste management.
The target groups are mainly the rate payers of Nadi Town Town Council and Lautoka City Council, and the general public as a whole.
