MAI TV partners ESPN Star Sports to showcase the Mission Foods World Netball Championships

Mai TV in partnership with ESPN STAR Sports, is proud to announce it has been awarded exclusive Pacific rights for the Mission Foods World Netball Championships to be staged in Singapore this July.

ESPN STAR Sports, the biggest sports content provider for Asia, is the host broadcaster as well as overseeing the event management for the championships’ 13th edition, which will feature 16 nations from five continents competing and hunting for glory.

ESPN STAR Sports will provide host broadcaster services in high definition with coverage of Fiji's four pool matches including their first against the Silver Ferns.

Mai TV will also provide coverage to a TV station in Samoa with two of Samoa's three matches being covered live.

Mai TV's managing director Mr Richard Broadbridge said that after almost six months of negotiations the company was awarded TV rights by IFNA and ESPN STAR Sports this week.

"It's a significant rights package for us and will mean that netball fans in the region will see such a prestigious event Live," Mr Broadbridge said.

ESPN STAR Sports managing director Mr Manu Sawhney said this was a significant distribution partnership for this stellar event and we were delighted to work closely with Mai TV.

“The sport’s popularity continues to grow at an immense rate across the globe, and we look forward to working closely with them to serve netball fans in the Pacific market,” Mr Sawhney said.

“We’re also proud to stage the event is in Singapore and we’re committed to offer our broadcast and event management expertise to deliver another marquee event to spectators and fans.”

International Federation of Netball Associations president Molly Rhone said this championships promised to be a truly thrilling one with some really closely fought matches and IFNA was delighted that fans in the Pacific Islands would be able to watch all the action from Singapore live.

Mai TV's support for Fiji Netball leading up to the tournament will involve marketing the team and the event in a similar fashion to the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup.
