MAJOR BOOST FOR POST FIJI LIMITED

Post Fiji Limited today recieved a major boost after they were handed over new postal equipment valued at AUD$90,000  through the Pacific Postal Development Partnership between the Australian Government and Australia Post.

The 3 year collobration iniative by the Australian Government and Australia Post is intended to support the development of Pacific Island postal services and strengthen effeciency, security and reliability of postal services in the Pacific region.

On behalf of the Fiji Government, the Assistant Minsiter in the Office of the Prime Minister Hon. Sakiusa Tubuna officiated at the handover and reaffirmed Fiji's  strong and enduring Vuvale partnership with  Australia.

"Australia and Fiji share a strong and enduring bilateral relationship underpinned by the Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership which is a broad ranging and comprehensive partnership supporting deeper political, economic, security and people to people links between the two nations," Hon Tubuna stated.

Post Fiji begun operations in 1871 in Levuka and has played an important role in terms of economic development and community service with currently 58 outlets across the country.

"Post Fiji assists Government by ensuring that rural and maritime dwellers across Fiji access services services such as online international money transfer and access to goods and stationaries.

Postal Equipments donated included electronic vehicles, delivery bikes, sorting racks, laptops, portable conveyors and scanners.

"The assistance of laptops, computers and scanners will enhance Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) of tracked packets related to e-commerce business both for inbound and outbound e-packets. The portable conveyors, sorting racks and trolleys will enhance operation efficiencies and will eliminate tiring labor," said Hon Tubuna.

Hon Tubuna also highlighted the Coalition Government recognizes the importance of Post Fiji's work in the rural and maritime areas and highlighted plans for the reconstruction of the Post office's in Lomaloma, Vanuabalavu Lau that was destroyed during Tropical Cyclone Winston in 2016.

Hon Tubuna expressed his profound gratitude to the Australian Government and Australian Post for the timely donation of postal equipment and capacity building training that will improve postal services in the region.
