The Health Ministry commends the private-public partnership in its effort to improve health service facilities.
The Makoi Health Centre Board of Visitors over the year has been fortune to foster such a relationship as it has undergone major refurbishments.
Health Ministry’s media liaison officer, Evlyn Mani said “the Health Ministry is grateful to the support shown by the business community and individuals.”
Repair works to furniture, donation of shelves, water blaster, computers, pillows, replacement of air conditioning are some examples of the business community and individuals support towards the Makoi Health Centre.
“In 2013, the Makoi Health Centre also received donations of manual breast pumps, handyman tools, brushcutter, stainless steel twin tub, entrance locks, microwave and curtain screens for emergency and treatment rooms,” Ms Mani said.
“What this shows is that the business community and individuals can work and assist in improving health service facilities for the betterment of the people in communities.”
While the Health Ministry has committed to improving health care facilities and services around the country, such support is always welcomed.
“A person or community can also contribute anytime by volunteering to clean the hospital or heath centre surrounding, or beautifying the area or as simply by donating blood,” Ms Mani said.
The Health Ministry will continue to look at more public-private partnership support as this is all part of ensuring that the Fiji health care facilities and services are upgraded to suit the needs of the people.
