After the successful launch of its Sigatoka Branch in June this year, the South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) Microfinance (Fiji) Ltd will open its doors to the women of the Northern Division with the establishment of the SPBD Savusavu Branch.
The Commissioner Northern Mr Ilai Moceica will be chief guest for the opening of the SPBD Savusavu branch on Friday 12th of October, 2012. He will lead the local officials who will welcome the SPBD’s programme for the women in the northern division. The new office is strategically located along the main street in Savusavu and will provide microfinance opportunities for women in the northern division.
The SPBD Fiji is a part of the South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) Microfinance network – the biggest and the most successful microfinance network in the South Pacific Region. It has blazed the trail of establishing unsubsidised Greenfield microfinance operations in the region and has earned recognition from different parts of the world for its efforts to uplift the conditions of the women.
In Fiji, SPBD started its operations in December 2010 with the Minister for Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation Dr Luveni formally opening its head office Suva. In just less than 24 months, it has provided unsecured loans, personalised savings facilities, affordable life insurance, business training and community organizing to almost 5,000 women in the provinces of Rewa, Naitasiri, Tailevu, Namosi and Serua provinces through its Suva Head Office and in the province of Nadroga through its branch in Sigatoka.
