The Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Hon. Rosy Akbar hosted the UNICEF Representative for Pacific Island Countries, Mr Sheldon Yett for an afternoon tea on the conclusion of his term of duties.
The final meeting between Minister Akbar and Mr. Yett was on the initiatives during his five year term to support development in the Fijian education sector and current ongoing programs.
Since his appointment back in 2016, Mr Yett has worked very cordially with Ministry of Education and has immensely contributed in many areas which includes Training, Psychosocial Support, WASH, and development of Bula Kids and recently towards COVID 19 Response, Planning & Coordination.
Through UNICEF’s initiatives and programs, many Fijian children have benefited a lot and this has contributed towards quality teaching and learning.
Minister Akbar says, “I am thankful to the valuable support and contribution Mr. Yett has made to the Fijian education system during his term. Many of UNICEF initiatives under his leadership will continue to benefit the Ministry and the children of Fiji. On behalf of the Fijian Government I thank Mr. Yett for his continuous commitment and wish him good health and successful future”.
The Ministry wishes Mr Yett well and safe travels as he is expected to depart after finishing his term at the end of next month.
