MINISTER AKBAR LAUNCHES FNU’S MASTER OF EDUCATION PROGRAMME

The Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Hon. Rosy Akbar launched the Fiji National University (FNU) Master of Education Programme by coursework through a Zoom Live Cast yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 27 July 2021).
 
The Fiji National University (FNU) School of Education of the College of Humanities and Education will offer the Master of Education via coursework, which will begin from Semester 2 of 2021.
 
The Programme is designed for educators who wish to develop and extend proficiency in education and have interest in contemporary education and are eager to learn about the new developments in the education sector.
 
Speaking at the Launch, Hon. Minister Akbar shared her views on how the Master's Programme is aligned to the Ministry’s strategic priorities outlined in the 2019-2023 Plan. Hon. Minister Akbar said, “One of the Ministry’s Strategic Priorities is that Tertiary Education will be further improved to focus on the current and future needs including the future demands of the labour market. Postgraduate programmes like the Master of Education via coursework will enhance teachers’ pedagogical and personal skills. We need to keep transforming the educational landscape”.
 
FNU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Toby Wilkinson, said, “FNU’s focus is education for employability, and this new Masters Programme is a perfect example of how we are aligning our courses to meet labour market needs. We are confident that the graduates of this programme will play an important role in enhancing educational policy and practice in Fiji.”
 
Development of new and innovative programmes in education will further equip teachers to meet the educational needs of their students.
