MINISTER APPLAUDS EDUCATION STAFF

The Minister for Education, National Heritage, Culture and Arts, Filipe Bole recently expressed his appreciation to all the staff of his ministry for their hard work and for maintaining standards of performance at very high levels this year.

In addressing his staff during the end of the year function at Vineyard last week, the Minister thanked the Permanent Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, Directors, Divisions, Districts, Principals, Head teachers, teachers, school managements and supporters for their commitment to the 2013 academic year.

“I believe we should and can feel humbly proud of our achievements as the Ministry this year. There are areas, as you all know, of our work that needs improvement. We have and we will continue to address these,” commented the Minister for Education.

“Our crowning achievement this year is the announcement by Government of the provisions in the 2014 budget, of free education in primary and secondary schools and the provision of scholarships and TELS (Tertiary Education Loan Scheme) in tertiary institutions,” added the Minister.

“I am adamant that we can achieve the Millennium Development Goal of universal primary education by the year 2015. The government now through the ministry will bear all financial responsibilities regarding teaching and learning and all Fijians should fully utilize this opportunity for a better Fiji,” remarked the Minister said.

The Ministry of Education also had their Service Excellence Award on the night recognizing exceptional government schools, sections and individuals for their contribution to the year 2013.
