The Fijian Government has dedicated its efforts to advance a people focused response including the recovery approach to deal with the unprecedented effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Fijian Government has committed to roll out vaccination with due regard to the rights of all Fijians. At the same time the Government, based on sound science and medical advice, has pleaded with all Fijians to be vaccinated. Our Hon. Prime Minister continues to lead this campaign of reason and persuasion to safeguard all Fijians against the ravages of the COVID-19 virus.
In line with these global agencies and based on science and medical advice, the Fijian Government has pointed out the need for all Fijians to be vaccinated for the greater good to ensure the health and well-being of all Fijians.
Moving forward, it is important for all stakeholders to recognise that globally under a new normal, COVID vaccination will become mandatory for travel across borders, and this in all likelihood will include travel for work, such as is already the case for the Pacific Mobility Labour Scheme. The Ministry applauds and thanks all workers who have placed the greater good for the health and safety of all Fijians and have chosen to be vaccinated.
The current lock downs and containment areas will not be necessary once all Fijians are vaccinated. The Ministry continues to work with all stakeholders to ensure that we strive towards a collective work environment that is COVID safe and a Fiji that is fully vaccinated against this terrible disease.
Full vaccination for all Fijians is the scientific and medically proven way towards reopening our villages, towns, cities and workplaces, ultimately our borders so that all Fijians can exercise their freedom in a new normal. A new normal where we can return to previous levels of employment and economic activity and grow a better Fiji for all Fijians.
