The Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Dr. Mahendra Reddy expressed his appreciation yesterday to the Rock Church of Fiji for donating free school stationery, backpacks, and over 3,000 pairs of brand new shoes from the United States of America for disadvantaged Fijian students.
The presentation of items from the church to the Ministry was held yesterday at the Coastal Christian Academy in Sigatoka.
The Ministry was grateful to this gesture by the Rock Church which is affiliated with the international network known as R.M.F. The Rock Church must be commended for their effort to support the greater vision of educational enhancement throughout Fiji and especially to reach more remote areas with support and resources.
Pastor John Blanchard from the organization said that it was an honour to meet the Minister for Education and to hear his vision and passion for inspiring all students in Fiji.
The Rock ministry has established Christian schools in India, Africa, and is seeking to expand in Fiji with its American-based ABEKA curriculum. Currently, the ministry hosts an annual outreach in the Sigatoka area distributing 1,000 free pair of shoes, clothes and other goods.
The Minister will travel with his staff this Saturday to distribute these items to students in rural communities.
