31/01/2022

The Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Premila Kumar has wished students in years 12 and 13 the best of luck for the external examinations.

A total of 8928 year 13 will sit for Fiji Seventh Form Examination in 169 centres across the country from 1 February to 11 February 2022, and the results are expected to be released on 17 March 2022. Fiji School Leaving Certificate Exam will begin for 13,851 year 12 students in 174 centres from 7 to 17 February, 2022 with results expected to be released on 6 April, 2022.

“I assure parents and guardians that the schools have made all arrangements to ensure exams are held in compliance with COVID safe protocol for the safely of teachers and students.”

“This is a stressful time for students. They need support and encouragement from parents, teachers and guardians to help students focus and manage exam pressure. The 2021 academic year has been extremely challenging one, which put students away from face to face classes for almost 8 months due to the pandemic. But with hard work and dedication of HOSs and teachers, engagement with students was maintained through remote learning using digital platforms and other means”, said Minister Kumar.

The Heads of Schools have assured that all syllabus for the two streams were completed and sufficient revision time was prioritised for the students. The Minister emphasised that these examinations are very important for the students as their future pursuit for higher education and career goals will be determined.

Despite the challenges caused by the pandemic, teachers and students have shown resilience and rose to the occasion to prepare for the examinations. I also thank the parents for supporting their children and sending them for face to face classes.

“I want students put on your best efforts on the final lag. Exam is not going to determine your future alone, there will be other things that will help. Just do your best”.
