The Minister for Policing, Hon. Ioane Naivalurua, met with civil servants and frontline police officers in Kadavu as part of his ongoing five-day visit to the island, reaffirming the government’s commitment to public service, community-centred leadership, and strengthened law enforcement.
Minister Naivalurua stressed the importance of people-focused governance, saying, “Let people be at the centre of everything we do.”
He encouraged all government employees in the province to work collaboratively and align efforts to bring about lasting positive change in Kadavu.
As part of his engagement with frontline officers, Minister Naivalurua visited the Vunisea Police Post, where he commended the dedication and hard work of the officers on the ground. He reminded them of the critical role they play in upholding the law and maintaining integrity, urging all personnel to maintain high ethical standards at all times.
Minister Naivalurua also reinforced the Government's strong stance against the illicit drug trade, particularly the illegal cultivation and trafficking of drugs from Kadavu. He emphasised the role of police officers as key players in the fight against narcotics, calling for vigilance, professionalism, and unity in addressing these challenges.
In addition to operational matters, the Minister acknowledged the sacrifices made by police officers and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting their welfare. He highlighted the importance of work-life balance, urging officers to make time for their families and prioritise personal well-being alongside professional duties.
Minister Naivalurua’s visit is aligned with the Coalition Government’s focus on strengthening enforcement, encouraging inter-agency collaboration, and building stronger, safer communities across the province.
