Earlier today, the Minister for Education, Premila Kumar, addressed the Fiji Early Childhood Education (ECE) Subsector Diagnostic Analysis and Planning Workshop. The workshop, organised with the support of UNICEF, was joined by Ms Anna Smeby, Chief of Education, UNICEF Pacific.
Minister Kumar encouraged them to provide their best views and suggestions, so that after review of the ECE sub-sector, international benchmarks can be met, especially in terms of the needs of learners these days, by incorporating Information Communication Technology in ECE.
The Minister also expressed appreciation for UNICEF's role in the ECE sub-sector transformation.
The Fijian Government invests about $18.5M annually in ECE for approximately 17,000 students as part of our commitment to ensuring our early learners have a quality educational foundation.
