Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu, handed over a new vehicle for the Government Station in Lekutu, Bua on Sunday to support them in their operations on the ground.
Minister Seruiratu said such resources were important in Government’s endeavour to improve its service delivery to people living in rural areas.
“The Ministry is focused on providing the best of services to rural Fijians, ensuring that no one is left behind, and there’s also a lot to be done here on Vanua Levu and here in Bua. We are hopeful that this vehicle will bring much relief to the office here in Bua, so that Lekutu can look after its own areas, and perhaps assist in the borders of Macuata as well,” he said.
Meanwhile, Minister Seruiratu also handed over three vehicles to Labasa and Tukavesi Police Stations and to the Saqani Community Post in Cakaudrove.
In handing over the vehicles, he reminded the police officers to look after the assets given by Government.
“Please look after these vehicles because these are for the communities here. You are only responsible to handle these so that you can serve the community. I hope that after this, the delivery of service here in the North will improve,” Minister Seruiratu said.
