MINISTRY ASSISTS RURAL YOUTH CLUB

18/12/2013

Christmas came early for the Wainiboa Youth Club of Balekinaga Village in Nakorotubu, Ra this week.

This after the Ministry of Youth and Sports permanent secretary Mr Josefa Sania handed over a chainsaw and a brush cutter to the club in Balekinaga yesterday.

The Western Division’s Youth Officer Valami Naloga said that “the club consists of 19 males and three females.”

“The club was established a year ago and farming dalo, cassava and yaqona is their sources of income.

“The handing over of this equipment followed after the completion of the Seeds of Success training conducted by our West office,” Mr Naloga said.

The assistance to the club was made possible after the ministry saw the need for a chainsaw after several visits to Balekinaga.

“This is indeed a timely assistance for us,” said club president Nasoni Maroloa. “We use axes and knives to chop down trees for farming.”

“The chainsaw will really see the quick development of our farms and also the brush cutter will definitely help as an alternative source of income for the club,” he added.

At the handover ceremony of these equipment, Mr Sania urged the youths of Wainiboa Youth Club to maximise the assistance and ensure they bring forth benefits to the club and members likewise.

“As you go into the festive season, keep in mind that 2014 is just a step away,” Mr Sania told the youths.

“Welcome the new year with rejuvenation and these new equipment is enough to kick-start your new year.”
