MINISTRY MONITOR’S SCHOOL ZONING

Following the implementation of the school zoning policy, the Ministry of Education will be visiting schools in Suva to monitor progress on this.

Ministry head Mr Filipe Bole will make a three day visit to schools in Suva from Wednesday to assess the impact of this policy in schools and the impact of class 8 students absorbed into form 3.

The objectives of school zoning are:

-To create the necessary conditions for achieving universal primary and secondary education.

-To promote the equitable distribution of educational benefits within and between different communities, regions and populations.

-To improve all aspects of the quality of education to ensure measurable learning outcomes are achieved, especially in literacy, numeracy and essential life skills and

-To optimise the efficient use of existing capital, human and financial resources.

The zoning was implemented for Class One and Form Three urban schools.
