The Ministry of Education wishes to inform the public of the roll-out of the Back to School Assistance (BTSA) program and the commencement of dedicated support operations.
On the first day of operations yesterday, the Ministry assisted over 3,000 parents and guardians at the Waisomo site.
From these 3,000 parents seeking verifications on their payments, the team noticed majority of these were applicants with the following issues;
a) schools not submitting the applications before the deadline
b) parents/guardians did not submit their applications before the allotted Ministry of Finance deadlines
c) wrong number issues or claims of wrong applications being submitted on behalf of children.
These were all attended to and verified yesterday and we will continue our operations from Waisomo House till the start of the school year.
Release of payments is done by Ministry of Finance according to their verifications and clearance.
After clearance from Ministry of Finance, it is then sent over to either Vodafone (MPaisa), Digicel (MyCash) or postal pays (Post Offices) for their distributions.
We are working with Ministry of Finance to ensure all 200,000 applicants are verified and cleared for release of payments.
All Year 13 payments will be paid at a later date once enrolments are finalised from schools and verified by the FEMIS Team before release to Ministry of Finance for payments.
To serve the public better, the Ministry has officially launched its BTSA support operations at:
