The Ministry of Youth & Sports will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) to secure better opportunities for young people.

This was highlighted by the Minister for Youth & Sports, Hon. Laisenia Tuitubou at the Youth Training Centre in Valelevu in Nasinu this week.

Minister Tuitubou said the MOU will create a pathway to allow graduating students from the Youth Training Centre in Valelevu to be recruited into the Fiji Military Band.

“I have spoken to the acting Commander of the RFMF and we are yet to formalise this agreement. At this point, 24 students who have graduated from the centre this month, have already been recruited by the Fiji Military Band through the RFMF’s Territorial Force (TF),” Minister Tuitubou said.

The Minister added that the general public should know that for young people who are interested in joining the army or the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Band, this agreement opens up a great opportunity for them.

“We train youths at the centre to become professional entertainers and also formulate a system for them to be able to earn a living from the skills they acquire at the centre,” Minister Tuitubou said.

Meanwhile, Valelevu Youth Training Centre administrative officer, Frances Tadulala said previous graduate trainees of the centre have been fortunate to be permanently employed by various organisations such as the Fiji Corrections Service, Fiji Police Band and the Fiji Military Band.
