MINISTRY SIGNS CONTRACT AGREEMENT FOR CWD HQ FACELIFT

21/05/2025

The Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management yesterday formalised a contract agreement with Advantage Exterioz Construction Pte Limited for a major facelift of the existing Commissioner Western Division (CWD) Headquarters in Lautoka.

The project is an investment of over $3.1 million by the Coalition Government and is aimed at improving working conditions for civil servants based at the CWD HQ.

This renovation works marks a significant milestone for the Ministry as it comes 41 years after the completion of the building’s third wing in 1984. The upcoming upgrade is expected to be completed over a 46-week period.

Speaking during the contract signing ceremony held in Suva, Permanent Secretary for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Mr. Isoa Talemaibua, highlighted the importance of accountability and timely delivery throughout the implementation of the project.

“We trust that you will continue to be transparent with the Government. You will need to acquit for every cent spent to Government,” said Mr. Talemaibua.

He further reminded the contractors of their obligation to honour the project deadline, emphasising that efficient use of public funds is crucial to maintaining trust and ensuring value for money.

Meanwhile, Advantage Exterioz Construction Pte Limited has been successfully selected to implement this project following a rigorous and comprehensive tender evaluation process carried out by the Technical Evaluation Committee. A total of three companies submitted bids for this project. The exercise forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts and the Government’s broader commitment to enhancing public service delivery, through improved infrastructure and safe working environment for civil servants.
