The Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management today formalised contracts with two successful contractors who will undertake essential maintenance works on government quarters located in Vunisea, Kadavu.
The works, which are part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to improve the standard of government infrastructure in rural and maritime areas, will enhance the living and working conditions of civil servants posted to Kadavu.
The two contractors were selected following a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation process carried out by the Technical Evaluation Committee. A total of seven companies submitted bids for these maintenance projects. The exercise forms part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to improve and maintain housing infrastructure for civil servants serving in Kadavu.
While officiating at the contract signing in Suva, Permanent Secretary for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Mr. Isoa Talemaibua congratulated the contractors and reminded them of the critical responsibility they now hold in delivering quality and timely work.
“As contractors entrusted with public projects, transparency, accountability, and compliance with the government’s financial and procurement regulations must be at the forefront of your operations,” PS Talemaibua said.
He stressed the importance of aligning construction progress with approved timelines and budgetary allocations to ensure the delivery of results that meet the expectations of the Ministry.
“Your work directly supports the Government’s mission to improve rural service delivery by ensuring that our frontline civil servants have access to safe and functional accommodation. We expect the highest standard of workmanship, delivered with integrity.”
The Ministry has been allocated a sum of $500,000 in the current financial year for the upgrade and enhancement of the Vunisea Government Station.
