The Ministry of Defence, National Security and Immigration today launched their Annual Corporate plan for this year with ultimate goal of ensuring national security is maintained.
Minister for Defence Joketani Cokanasiga said this marks another milestone for the ministry’s efforts to drive to as well as deliver excellence and value, thus ensuring that our national security environment remains stable, manageable and controllable.
“The 2014 ACP outlines the eighteen outputs which will be measured by the Strategic Framework for Change Coordinating Office, using fifteen key performance indicators that will need to deliver,” Mr Cokanasiga said.
“The achievement of these Outputs will enable the Ministry to accomplish Governments requirements, through the realization of the following seven outcomes National security as our core deliverable, Public sector reforms, financial services, poverty alleviation, environmentally sustainability gender streaming and women in development and commitment to wellbeing,” Mr Cokanasiga said.
Meanwhile, Mr Cokanasiga said that with the country gearing up to hold free, fair and representative elections and integral part of such exercise is to ensure stable security.
“In order to successfully conduct national elections and transition into parliamentary democracy, the maintenance of internal stability in an internal requirement,” he said.
“The ministry through the four divisions based in head quarters in concert with the department of Immigration, Fiji Police and the Republic of the Fiji Military forces will strive to ensure security is maintained and enhanced in the interest our continued democratic development and sustainable socio-economic growth,” he said.
The ministry is adamant to pursue the development of legal and operational frameworks, to combat terrorism, cyber crime and unlawful migration.
