MINISTRY THANKS FIJI AID MELBOURNE ON TIMELY DONATION

The Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts today lauded the Fiji Aid Melbourne for a donation of a set of 150 computers comprising of Acer CPUs and flat screens, 10 laser printers and 100 mouse and keyboards.
 
This benevolent organisation was formed in Victoria by various institutions such as religious organizations, sporting groups and Hindi radio announcers, to help people who had suffered losses during the floods of January 2009. 
 
Fiji Aid Melbourne, (FIJIAM), was previously known as Fiji Disaster Relief Committee, Victoria.
 
While handing over the computers, Fijian representative, for the Melbourne based organization, Anup Kumar said that, “I hope that this donation will impact the future of the nation because education is a key element for the way forward.”
 
Minister Akbar, while receiving the computers said, “I will ensure that these computers will be given to those unfortunate schools severely affected by TC Harold and in the process fulfil the eLearning needs of our rural children. In fact I will personally deliver these to the schools.”
 
Minister Akbar acknowledged the President, Arvind Kumar and his team for this initiative and for keeping the needs of the children of Fiji paramount. She reiterates that this handing over is the beginning of a relationship which will be strengthened further to benefit our children.   
 
FIJIAM assists those that are affected by disasters regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.
