MORE RAIN IN NEXT 24 HOURS

The National Disaster Office or NDMO is advising the pubic to take precautionary measures as more rain is expected in the next few day.

An active trough of low pressure remains slow moving over the northern parts of Fiji.

The trough and associated cloud and active rain bands are affecting the group.

The Nadi weather office has forecasted periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms most of places to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji Group however, rain is expected to ease from the southern parts of the group later tomorrow.

NDMO has confirmed that flooding of low lying areas is also possible as moderate west to northwest winds; gusty at times can be expected with moderate to rough seas.

Outlook for Tuesday is cloudy periods with some showers over the Lau and Lomaiviti group.

The interior and eastern parts of larger islands can expect fine apart from possible afternoon or evening showers.

For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba – Periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.
Outlook for Tuesday – Fine apart from possible afternoon or evening showers.

For Labasa – Periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.
Outlook for Tuesday – Fine apart from possible afternoon or evening showers.

For Savusavu – Periods of rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.
Outlook for Tuesday – Cloudy periods with some showers.

For Rotuma – Brief showers. Moderate northerly winds. Moderate seas.
Outlook for Tuesday – Fine apart from brief showers.

Meanwhile, for mariners, a gale wind warning remains in force for southwest Viti levu, Northern Vanua Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca waters, Vatu – i – Ra and Kadavu passages is now in force for Koro sea and Southern Lau Waters.

Forecast to midday tomorrow for Fiji waters- West to northwest winds, 20 to 25 knots. Rough seas. Moderate northwest swells.
