MSAF STRATEGIC PLANNING WORKSHOP

11/12/2012

The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji will set goals and priorities for the next three years so that it can continue to position itself as an entity devoted to develop Fiji’s maritime standards.

A 2-day strategic planning workshop to establish the strategic direction is being held with stakeholders, board and senior executives at Studio 6 Conference Centre in Suva on 10 – 11 December 2012.

This is MSAF's second strategic planning exercise since 2011. The workshop is a follow-up on a ‘job evaluation’ exercise already conducted by Maxumise Consultants in preparation of this Strategic Planning Workshop.

The special guest for the opening, Minister for Works, Transport and Public Utilities, Captain Timoci Natuva applauded the MSAF for its commitment in progressing government’s interest in the current global trend.

"As stakeholders we must condone to be proactive and keep abreast of the international environment and look out for elements that affect us so that we are aware, and to enable us to define and ascertain our course of action", he said.

Maxumise consultants will facilitate the workshop as well as assist with development of a strategic planning process (procedure) for MSAF - a rolling strategic plan, which will be outcome-based, and that is focused on the strategic response to all the stakeholders.

An employee climate survey was also conducted of MSAF prior to the workshop in the form of an MSAF Organisational Health Index, to provide data on staff satisfaction or assistance.

“I reiterate that its important for MSAF to emphasise its core competencies, and for the foreseeable future must continue to promote maritime safety, security, and protection of the marine environment”, Minister Natuva added,

MSAF’s strategic plan will be developed to ensure that the statutory reporting requirements under the Public Enterprise Act will be ably extracted.
