The 3rd Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Regional Security Strategy Working Group concluded its four days deliberations on the draft Regional Security Strategy successfully.

The draft Strategy spans over 5 years and is aimed at building a secure and resilient Melanesian Community for the future.

In his closing remarks, the Director General of the MSG Ambassador Amena Yauvoli thanked member countries for their concerted efforts in drafting  a robust strategy with the vision of a safe and prosperous region that protects its people, culture, relationships, terrestrial resources, air, sea and below the sea. The strategy will be inclusive and strives also to uphold the Melanesian values of patriotism, national unity, rule of law, democracy, human dignity, social justice, and equity.

The five key strategic priorities will enhance effective coordination approaches by having clear robust strategies at the regional level that are aligned to respective national and international instruments for addressing common security challenges.
