Manufacturer lauds Cabinet Decision

Local companies have come out in support of Cabinet’s decision in endorsing the Industry Emblem Decree 2011.?  ?This will help keep the local labels on goods and will promote Government’s ‘Make it in Fiji’ and the ‘Buy Fiji’ initiative. ? Mark One Apparel Limited Managing Director, Mr Mark Halabe says labels on goods will promote Fiji products.  ?  ?The Decree makes provision for the issuance and protection of industry emblems for products manufactured, grown or made in Fiji. ? ?Mr Halabe said Fiji should be proud of what we grow and manufacture. ? “Our standards are world class and by having a label that indicates national ownership of a product should encourage local support to purchase instead of imported goods that may not have the same level of quality,” Mr Halabe said. ? ?He adds that the label will also signify a high quality. ?  ?“For International customers the label will indicate again a high level of quality made and grown under strict guidelines that will not only show quality but also consistency with an image of the environment we in Fiji enjoy and most of the world envy to be part of,” he said. ? ? The Decree prescribes the criteria for the use of the Fijian Made and Fijian Grown emblem and will set the minimum mandatory compliance requirements.  ? Attorney General and Minister for Industry and Trade Mr Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said that Decree prohibits the use of the Fijian Made and Fijian Grown emblem without the approval of the Minister responsible; prescribes the criteria for the use of the emblem that sets minimum compliance requirements; and provides for licensing and registration of businesses and products that are permitted to use the emblem.? ? -ends-
