Minister visits Nadroga Schools

02/08/2011

The Minister for Education, Mr Filipe Bole left for Nadroga yesterday for a tour of schools in the area.

Accompanied by his permanent secretary Dr Brij Lal and other ministry officials, Mr Bole will meet with teachers and students.

The purpose of the visit is to inspect schools, check on their conditions and look at ways the ministry can provide further assistance.

During this four-day visit, Mr Bole will visit Sigatoka Valley High School, Bemana Secondary School, Navosa Central College, Sigatoka Methodist College, Nadroga Navosa Province Secondary School, Nawai Secondary School and Thomas Baker Secondary School.

While in Sigatoka, the minister will officially open the Fiji National University’s Sigatoka Centre on Thursday.

The visit is part of the minister's efforts to engage with schools and see first hand the challenges faced by schools and how they can be addressed.

Last week, Mr Bole and his entourage toured the Lau group to visit schools in a bid to address issues faced not only by the students but the teachers as well.

The ministerial delegation will return to Suva on August 5.
