The Education Ministry commends Veiuto Primary School in its steps taken to form the Veiuto Media Watchdog.
“The media has a very strong influence on the lives of young people and it is important to have monitoring and awareness to address the effects,” Education Minister Mr Filipe Bole said.
“The media influences students’ time management, appearance and setting of priorities.”
“To have a media watchdog can regulate social behavior and the language of students who have been directly influenced by the media.
“In addition, students will be assisted to learn on how to think critically before ‘shamelessly copying’ from the media.”
He is urging other schools to form clubs that can contribute positively to students’ development.
