The Ministry of Education is proposing to ask Cabinet for the imposition of curfew on the day after closure of every Coca Cola Games. The idea came up after the police stated that about 6000 students poured into the Capital city centers on Saturday night.

The ministry is thankful to police for containing the huge number of students and ensured their safety was not threatened.

Education Minister, Mr Filipe Bole was appalled at the police statement and said, “we may have to ask permission from Cabinet to impose curfew in Suva to restrict students from entering town”.

“Children will remain children and with that number pouring unexpectedly into town anything can happen and we do not want to risk it.”

“During this public emergency regulation period we can easily impose curfews as a control mechanism. The suggestion is harsh and no one likes it but we have do something or our children will think that such incident does not matter anymore.”

The ministry continues to appeal to parents and guardians to know the whereabouts of their children.
