NAISOGOCEVA WOMEN’S GROUP GRATEFUL FOR GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE

07/07/2022

For Ilisapeci Nasau, the assistance she received yesterday (4/07/22) from Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama on behalf of the Naisogoceva Women’s Group of Vukavu, Naceva, Kadavu is an answered prayer that they had been longing for.

As the president of their village women’s group, Ms Nasau said that over the years, women in their village have had to borrow basic kitchen utensils during village functions.

Today, all that will be an issue of the past as they received new sets of kitchen appliances and utensils donated by the Office of the Prime Minister and personally handed over to them by Prime Minister Bainimarama.

“The Fijian Government had provided the women of Vukavu Village with a resource centre in 2016. We use the centre during village functions or as accommodation for Government officials who come to our village. However, the biggest problem we faced was that there were no proper kitchen appliances and utensils specifically for the resource centre. We have had to borrow pots, dishes, and utensils amongst ourselves to help with our catering.”

“We informed the Roko about this and she helped us in raising our concerns to the Provincial Council office. They informed the Prime Minister’s Office, and they assisted us with what we needed.

Ms Nasau, has been an active member of the women’s group for the past 20 years, said that this was the first time for them to receive such assistance and for that she articulated her thanks to the Fijian Government.

“I thank the Fijian Government for assisting Fijian women around the country and always listening to our requests. We, the women from the 10 villages of the district of Naceva are witnesses to this, especially for us in Vukavu.”

This assistance is of great help to us because we know it would take us a long time to fund anything like this ourselves, and to be able to receive it for free from the Government is a relief for us,” she said.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama handed over kitchen utensils to the Solodamu Women’s Group and Naisogoceva Women’s Group, and Mere Vuase of Namuana Village received an outboard engine.

A boat and its outboard engine were handed over to the village of Cevai from the district of Tavuki and Vuiyasiyasi Investment received fencing materials under the Integrated Human Resources Development Programme.
