The Fiji Meteorological Services (FMS) has issued a special weather bulletin for a HEAVY RAIN WARNING NOW IN FORCE FOR THE ENTIRE FIJI GROUP. This is due to a trough of low pressure, bringing persistent clouds and rain, which is expected to affect the country until Sunday.
The National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO) is closely monitoring flood early warning systems in consultation with Divisional Emergency Operation Centers.
With continuous heavy rainfall, the risk of flash flooding significantly, the NDRMO strongly urges the public to remain vigilant and continue to take all necessary safety precautions. It is crucial that everyone STAYS AWAY and REFRAINS from attempting to cross or swim in flooded rivers, streams, drains, roads, and walkways where water levels are above knee height. Such actions are extremely dangerous.
