More students living close to John Wesley College in Raiwaqa can now study at the school after the completion of their new classroom.
This development which was funded by a Government allocation of $59,000, includes the building of two rooms in September last year that will serve as a library and Form 7.
Commissioner Central Division, Lt. Colonel Laisenia Tuitubou said the assistance by Government targets such areas where they look at the standard of living of these students.
School Principal Joji Nakaora said the school really needed a classroom and a library to upgrade the existing facilities and cater for the growing number of students.
”The roll has been increasing for the past months and this school really needed to upgrade its facilities to more classrooms to facilitate the students who are coming in especially after the phasing out of Laucala Bay Secondary School,” Mr Nakaora said.
“To put in place a project such as this is very tough and I thank the Government for assisting the school in time for the new school year and this will greatly assist the parents of the children in school,” Mr Nakaora.
He added that free education for parents is very helpful and guarantees education for most of the children in Raiwai and Raiwaqa area.
Mr Tuitubou is currently on a week-long tour of all the projects rendered by his office in 2013 and the new projects for 2014 together with officials from the Commissioner Central office.
