NEW PPE’S FOR EVACUATION CENTRES

17/01/2022

Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu handed over supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Commissioner Northern Division, Mr. Uraia Rainima and his team on Saturday to beef up COVID-19 adherence at all evacuation centres in the division.

The PPE supplies included face masks, gloves and hand sanitizers.

The Ministry has been closely working with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to ensure that all COVID-19 protocols in place are followed in all active evacuation centres.

Speaking during a briefing with the Northern Division team over the weekend, Minister Seruiratu said he wanted the teams in the divisions to be vigilant of COVID-19 protocols in all evacuation centres.

“While we’re going through this challenging time, we’re doing this with COVID in our presence. The simple things in evacuation centers is something we want to tidy up. In the absence of health personnel in evacuation centres, every civil servant knows the COVID-19 protocols like masking up, sanitizing, practicing of social distancing, and must ensure that these are followed,” he said.

The PPE supplies will be distributed across evacuation centres in the provinces of Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata through the guidance of the Provincial Administrators (PAs).
