NEW ZEALAND MISSION YOUTHS IN FIJI

28/06/2012

Eight volunteers from New Zealand who are also members of the International Youth with a Mission or YWAM have been in the country for the past four weeks as part of their regional interaction program.

Led by Lydia Smith and Robert Jan Voogt, part of their work is to visit homes and communities, assist in various community activities and reach out to unemployed youths.

Youth with a Mission has been established world-wide with members contributing voluntarily to its programs whose mission is “To know God and make God known”.

The eight volunteers had initially spent the past three weeks in Suva attending to several community work and were at the Western Library Office helping clean the library compound and office.

Librarian supervisor Varanisese Tusaqa in acknowledging the presence of the volunteers said that the involvement of youth organisations as YWAM and other similar working groups was essential in influencing Fiji’s own youth to carry out similar work.

The group returns to New Zealand on the 9th of July.
