The New Zealand High Commission in Fiji has assured the Ministry of Youth and Sports of its assistance in the areas of youth and sports development.
Acting Head of Mission of the New Zealand High Commission, Mr Mark Ramsden during a meeting with the Minister for youth and Sports Hon. Laisenia Tuitubou yesterday said, “Fiji and New Zealand share similar interests in sports and we are willing to offer our assistance where and when necessary.”
“I understand the Fiji Under-20 side will be travelling to New Zealand next year for the FIFA World Cup,” Mr Ramsden said.
“This is a great achievement for Fiji and we are willing to provide assistance to Fiji FA or to the government to assist Fiji’s campaign in the World Cup,” he added.
Mr Tuitubou said the meeting was fruitful and is looking forward the positive relations between the two countries.
“I believe we will maximise their offer for assistance in the build-up and during the Under-20 FIFA World Cup next year since it will be held in New Zealand,” Mr Tuitubou said.
“We will also pursue other avenues of assistance in youth and sports development later from the office of the New Zealand High Commission.”
Mr Ramsden and the Minister have agreed to keep the communication lines open in the future for more talks on areas of assistance.
