The Wages Councils under the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment hereby gives notice that the ten Proposed Wage Regulation Orders is published and is available at all Ministry of Labour offices around Fiji.
Copies of the Proposal are available at the offices of the Ministry of Labour in Suva, Lautoka, Labasa, Sigatoka, Nadi, Ba and at offices of District Officers in Suva, Korovou, Sigatoka, Nadi, Ba, Navua, Rakiraki, Tailevu, Tavua, Taveuni, Savusavu, Nausori, Vunidawa and Rotuma.
Written submissions with respect to these proposals should be sent to the Permanent Secretary for Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment at Level 4, Civic House, Victoria Parade, Suva, or P.O Box 2216, Government Building, Suva on or before 28th July, 2012.
Under section 56 (1) of the Employment Relations Promulgation (ERP) 2007, an employer is required to display the written notice of the proposed wage increase in their workplace informing the workers of the increase. These notices can be obtained from the various Ministry of Labour offices around Fiji.
Under the ERP any employer who fails to comply with the provisions of the law will be fined a fixed penalty of $100.00 (hundred dollars).
A 10 to 15 per cent increase has be proposed for the 10 employment sectors including, Printing Trades, Wholesale & Retail Trades, Hotel & Catering Trades, Garment Industry, Sawmilling & Logging Industry, Road Transport, Building & Civil & Electrical Engineering Trades, Manufacturing Industry, Mining & Quarrying Industry and Security Services.
