Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum conducted face-to-face consultations on the revised 2021-2022 National Budget with members of the community in Nubu village, Lagalaga and Kurukuru settlement in Macuata last night.
The AG addressed the issue of rising sugar prices, stating that any commodity would eventually experience a rise in price and that sugar prices have been the same for the past years, with about 70 per cent of sugar prices going to farmers.
The A-G discussed issues with regard to TELS scholarships and the new iTaukei Land Trust Amendment Act, and improving the road conditions around the country.
He also spoke about the key priority areas in which the government is committed to improving in the rural and maritime areas, this includes education, accessing clean and proper water and access to the internet.
