A three weeks small engine training course for youths of Nairai and Batiki in the Lomaiviti Group will start today (Wednesday, March 16) and will end on April 8, 2011.
Thirty youths will be part of the training that will be held at Vutuna Village.
Participating Youths hail from Nautoloa, Lawaki, Vutuna, Waitoga and Tovulailai villages in Nairai island and Mua, Manuku Yavu, and Nakorolevu Village from the island of Batiki.
The first three days of the training will cover Seeds of Success empowerment training, after which the small engine training starts from Thursday until the April 8.
The training is being conducted by the Department of Youth and it is the first time for youths of Batiki and Nairai in the Lomaiviti province.
Youths will also participate in practical sessions on small engine repairs in villages on the island of Nairai.
Most engines, which broke down on our maritime island are left unattended because they do not have trained persons to repair them.
The three weeks training in Vutuna Village on Nairai island will end with the graduation of participants on the April 1.
The three-day empowerment training programme on the island of Nairai plus the three weeks small engine training will surely equip youths on time management and discipline together with the skills of repairing small engines.
