It is anticipated that Naitasiri dairy farmers will increase their milk production in the near future.
Acting Provincial Administrator Naitasiri, Mr Jovesa Naqarikau said that Government had allocated more than $112,447 towards the dairy industry in Naitasiri.
Twelve dairy farmers from the province received government assistance through the Dairy Improvement Scheme, this year.
“Close to 90 per cent of the work has been completed within the 12 dairy farms. So we should expect an increase in milk production in a short while,” Mr Naqarikau said.
“The Government assistance was in the form of improving drainage systems.”
Mr Naqarikau also highlighted the assistance provided by the Social Welfare Department.
“The Naitasiri province is also grateful to Government for the Social Welfare assistance where 3,129 recipients have been receiving assistance through cash vouchers, poverty and alleviation, family assistance and care and protection schemes,” he said.
The total amount of government assistance for 2010 for the province of Naitasiri is $977,862.00.
